Panic Fest 2021 Preview

Scary DVDs! Woo!

Panic Fest 2021 returns to the Screenland Armour Theater in Kansas City with live (yes, live!) screenings as well as virtual screenings and events for the homebound horror fan.

From April 8-18, 2021 you can experience over 60 feature and short horror films as well as virtual gatherings, podcasts and in person events.

The full lineup of films can be found here. It features a virtual cornucopia of great films including these films that I am really looking forward to:

  • The world Premier of Below the Fold directed by Clayton Scott– “Susie Potter vanished from her home in the quiet town of Skidmore, Missouri. Ten years later, two reporters uncover a harrowing new detail, which leads them on an obsessive hunt for the truth through the dark labyrinth of rural northwest Missouri.”
  • Censor directed by Prano Bailey-Bond is a film made my list of 2021 Horror Films We’re Looking Forward to in our latest Podcast Episode . “After viewing a strangely familiar video nasty, Enid, a film censor, sets out to solve the past mystery of her sister’s disappearance, embarking on a quest that dissolves the line between fiction and reality”.
  • Prisoners of Ghostland, Sion Sono’s latest featuring Nic Cage and Sofia Bouttella tells the tale of “a notorious criminal [who] must break an evil curse in order to rescue an abducted girl who has mysteriously disappeared.”
  • The Stylist directed by Jill Gevargizian (a Kansas City native), features genre favorite Brea Grant in the story of “a lonely hair stylist who becomes obsessed with the lives of her clients and descends into murderous madness”.

For ticket information head on over to the official Panic Fest website and get a festival pass or individual tickets (coming soon).
