And guess who’s back? Yup, THE Ruggero Deodato! The man who brought us all one of the most sickening and exploitative horror films of all time is allegedly back to help bring this grindhouse nastiness back to life! In concert with the Italian video game maker Fantastico Studios, Ruggero is creating an interactive game that will allow you to play the role of a hopelessly doomed individual in the jungles of Borneo. No need to to overthink your gaming strategy because you will DIE.
We touched on the whole cannibal genre before, and for those of you entirely unfamiliar with the 1980 masterpiece, Cannibal Holocaust, it’s an interesting little piece of cinema. Not just the massive hype machine that actually got the film banned in dozens of countries, but the fact that it really existed as a found footage film almost 20 years before the beloved, and comparatively tame, Blair Witch Project. Cannibal Holocaust really exists in it’s own sleazy world. Filled with gore, gore, and more gore. This film, and we’re guessing the video game, is NOT for the faint of heart.
