Joe Moe’s Top 25* Horror Movies

Fangoria! Woo!

Mad Monster Party convention host, Famous Monsters of Filmland editor and genre FX sculptor Joe Moe brings his considerable horror bona fides to bear with his top 25 list!

What makes YOU an expert? As in, tell us a little about yourself — what you do, current projects, links to your website, info about your recent film. Whatever you’d like. Go crazy! :

Joe: I’ve been steeped in horror from the time I was a kid in Hawaii. I cemented my fate as a member in good standing (or lurking) of our community when I became best friend and caretaker of one of our genre’s original fearfathers, Forrest J Ackerman. Through “Uncle Forry” I’ve known many of our most fervent figures, big and small. I had the privilege of the company and encouragement of Ray Bradbury, Ray Harryhausen, John Landis, Kenneth Anger and other classic genre artists. I started out in FX and actually sculpted a mask for Don Post Studios in the early 80s. I am an editor (retro issues) and regular contributor to Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine as well as having written and produced screenplays, short stories and other published works. I promote and host the annual Mad Monster Party conventions in Arizona and North Carolina. My day job is writing and editing the catalog for Profiles in History, the premiere Hollywood memorabilia auction house, where I continue to handle some of the most coveted objects, costumes and artwork in the movie industry. Mostly, I carry on Forry’s spirit of encouragement in our community. I mentor as many young horror fans as possible and always strive to create an environment where all of us misfits can mis-fit together.
