Resident Scariest Things Superfan Weighs in with his top 25! (And he’s got a short film to show!)

There has never been a time in my life where movies haven’t in some way have made some sort of impact. I try to make sure I watch at least one new movie every week, I talk to my friends about movies all the time, and I even quote movies all the time. As of now, I mostly air my love of film in a number of groups, namely the Official Mr. Coat and Friends Fan-Club Group, where I frequently write reviews of the new movies I watch. In terms of my actual filmmaking, I have only written and directed one short, a silent film called Revenge is Sweet as Honey that I made as a film class assignment. As of this typing, I am currently preparing to write my official short film debut. To me, Horror has always been the genre that has impacted me the most, since I always find it interesting how a movie can get under your skin and give you a real rush and experience when you watch it. I consider the best horror movies to be the ones that give you a real experience with its scares, writing, and so on, and leave you with an experience you are unlikely to ever forget. When compiling this list, I made sure to think of movies that had lasting impacts on me, as well as ones that were some of the best in terms of writing, acting, and so on. I wanted to choose from a variety of older and recent films, since quite a number of these films have gotten to me in their own way. I also wanted to make sure to avoid ones that some may find to be the most common choices when it comes to “greatest horror movies ever”. So in other words, while I do like movies like Psycho, The Exorcist, The Ring (and also Ringu, the original), and The Shining, you won’t find them on this list. I did, however, want to include some films on my list that not as many people have likely heard of, as I feel these can be ones that can use some love as much as the classic ones and more mainstream ones I decided to include. While this list was tough for me to compile, I managed to do so, and present to you my current list of my Top 25 Favorite Horror Movies of All Time.
