Horror filmmaker Graham Hughes has been working on an experimental horror feature for the past 20 months, and now it is time for its reveal! We have the trailer and poster of Family Go to the Bad House for you. Following is press information from Hughes.
Having just moved into a new house, Mother, Father and Child discover that there may be an evil presence living with them.
An unlicensed supercut film, edited from nearly 400 (389) horror movies, combined into a kaleidascopic edit to tell a new, but familiar story.
It’s a love letter to the genre, an exploration of the tropes within the Haunted House (and broadly horror) genres, a study on the Kuleshov Effect, and frankly a passion project.
Main ‘Rules’ of the edit:
- Can only use feature length horror films (no TV, no other genres, no short films)
- No film can cut from itself to itself
- Limited use of footage from any single film
- No image augmentation (except horizontal flip to maintain the 180 line)
- Leaning on the Kuleshov Effect and continuity-based editing to link different actors/locations/characters into a coherent linear narrative
Family Go to the Bad House is only available from 1st October, 2026 by emailing [email protected]. That will prompt an auto reply to a G-Drive folder with the film, subtitles and edit notes.
