Director San Schaffer’s surreal psychosexual thriller Electric Meat enjoys its world premiere at London’s Tubi FrightFest on 28th August, 2026. VVomb Studio is delighted to share the new trailer for Electric Meat, which is set for its World Premiere at Tubi FrightFest on 28th August. Directed by comic book artist and writer, Dan Schaffer (The Scribbler, Doghouse, Peripheral), the psychosexual thriller stars Caspian Faye (Cat Skin), Emily Booth (Doghouse, Evil Aliens) and Nina Courson.
A photographer working a day job as a butcher finds one of his models murdered in an alley and, being comfortable around dead meat, decides to keep her around as his muse to help his failing career.
But he becomes convinced that she is somehow both alive and dead, like Schrödinger’s cat. And she’s rebelling! Changing from a posable doll to a vengeful revenant.
As the Butcher’s source of inspiration becomes his darkest fear, he turns to his landlady, an ex-model with a grudge. She’s dangerous, unhinged, and ready to take his work in a whole new psychotic direction.
Commenting on the film’s Official Selection at Tubi FrightFest, Director and Writer, Dan Schaffer said; “It’s a thrill to have the world premiere of Electric Meat on our home turf in London at one of the world’s leading horror festivals. Electric Meat is an exploration of the thin line between life and meat. The film questions what happens when love and art, what I see as the only defences against the existential threat of death, are corrupted by desperation, delusion, and conformity.
The film is told through the fractured perspective of a failed artist working a day job as a butcher. I wanted the audience to live inside his world, warped by his migraines and delusions, so the visual style naturally became expressionist, with black-and-white cinematography and a soundscape that hums with anxiety.
There’s no dialogue. The sound design does all the talking. This required a painstakingly detailed soundtrack which I worked on with composer Jacob Ryman, and Katiejane Garside, a singer who provided the vocal resonance.
Visually and tonally, Electric Meat draws on early Lynch, Bergman, Tsukamoto, and Murnau, blending influences from silent-era German Expressionist movies and cinematographers like Gregg Toland.
Beneath the horror and surrealism, the film explores how flesh and art are objectified, commodified, consumed, and discarded. The Butcher’s gaze is both creative and destructive. He turns flesh into art, but his approach reveals his complicity in a culture that devours what it claims to love.
