The Scariest Things Episode 152: The Top 100 Horror Movies of All Time #100-81

ATMOSfx! Woo!

The Scariest Things is re-constituting our top 100 Horror Movie List of all time! It’s been five years since our inaugural list was created, and frankly, we know a lot more knowledgeable horror professionals now. Plus, it’s fun to do, and creating a ranked list offers up room for great debates, both amongst our own crew internally, and with you, our fans! We hope you enjoy and appreciate our list! (And feel free to let us know if you disagree… that’s fun too.)

Every good horror movie website requires a recommendation list. And, even though we are now an established Horror Movie media outlet, we are making sure that this is a vetted and curated list, using all of our most knowledgable horror contacts to participate in our selections. Because we have to make sure that we aren’t presenting you with recommendations based on a small sample size!

We had a total of 72 contributing jurors, including directors, actors, producers, festival directors, fellow podcasters, and of course our Patreon contributors! We asked our jurors to give us their top 25 movies, and we weighted the ranks, so the #1 selected movie was worth 25 points, and the #25 movie is worth 1. We ended up receiving over 500 nominated films, so these are the best of the best!

We invited friend and Patron, Ian Parker to compile our ballots and to present a blind reveal for Eric, Mike, and Liz. This makes for great reaction takes, full of surprises. Also, we have an internal agreement that the podcaster with the most matches with the juried list becomes the NEW mayor of Tropetown!

Speaking of surprises, if you don’t want to see the reveal in print, zoom to the bottom of the page and start up the audio track. OR, take in the results RIGHT HERE. What do you think of the first twenty movies? Are any of them among your favorites? Anything that you think SHOULDN’T be on the list? Let us know in the comments below!

Stay tuned for the rest of the top 100, as we roll out more podcasts.
