Once again Hollyweird cranked up the almighty money-making hype machine and got to work on some very fine artistry. While it’s got to be more and more difficult for graphic designers to cram all of the fear, fright, and gore on to an iPhone screen, designers have not yet thrown in the towel!
This year’s fare featured a lot of minimalism and an a whole lot of loving throwback to their 1970s and 80s brethren. There were no real design shockers this year, no real above-and-beyond marketing campaigns, and nothing really out of the ordinary. This, of course, doesn’t mean that Hollyweird didn’t try — oh no, quite the contrary. Designers going to design and we get to sit back and take in all of their glorious attempts at hype and fright.
