The Scariest Things Podcast Extra: The Portland Horror Film Festival 2019

MICK GARRIS, WORLD PREMIERES, AND MONSTERS APLENTY AT PORTLAND HORROR FILM FESTIVA FROM JUNE 5TH-8TH.

It’s back to back Podcast festival extras! In this episode we’re staying local, with a discussion with Gwen and Brian Callahan about what frightful offerings they have in store for 2019 Portland Horror Film Festival.

ATMOSfx! Woo!
PHFF’s Gwen and Gretchen!

The Portland Horror Film Festival and The Scariest Things have a special symbiotic relationship. We at the Scariest Things are proud to sponsor their exceptional festival, and we encourage all of our Portland fans to get tickets to this fantastic event. Their ability to attract top notch independent horror movies and shorts to Portland is a huge win for the local horror film fan community. In addition to the PHFF, they are the organizers of the HP Lovecraft Festival, which is Portland’s largest and longest running genre film festival (24 years!)

Last year we were treated to Big Legend, The Ranger, Puppet Master The Littlest Reich, Framed, and The LaPlace’s Demon. And that’s not to forget some of our favorite short films like The Ballad of Squirt Reynolds, The Dollmaker, and Heavy Flow. Which reminds us: we strongly encourage you to go to the short film panels, as this is horror short film heaven!

This year, the festival has six new feature films, and Mike and Eric will join the PHFF on stage to help moderate a panel with Mick Garris, where we get to talk to him about his latest film Nightmare Cinema! Chines actress, Kunjue Li (no relation) the star of The Funeral is travelling all the way from London to be at the WORLD PREMIERE of her movie. So, it’s all very exciting, and if you haven’t gotten your tickets yet, you can still get a cool package of super swag provided by the festival, including one of Brian’s always creepy (but beautiful) exclusive tee shirt designs!

Check out the cool swag!

At the PHFF production of the William Girdler classic Abbey that was shown a couple weeks ago, I realized how many people I knew in the audience, and it’s thanks to productions like this where The Scariest Things gets to interact with the rest of the Portland Horror community, so we’d love to see you there! If you see us, please come up and say hello!
