Oh…snap! It’s on! The new Pet Sematary trailer just dropped and it’s got a shot of Zelda! Yes. ZELDA.
For those of you in the know, Zelda is arguably one of the scariest, freakiest, and downright spooky persons to ever hit the silver screen. Zelda of course is the sister of the one of the main characters (Rachel) in the book and the original 1989 film. In both, it’s revelealed that Rachel was profoundly traumatized by death of her sister, Zelda, from spinal meningitis. Book and film also reveal the deep dark reason for the Rachel’s horrifying trauma is that she feels at fault with her parents, who left her at home alone with her Zelda when she died. Now Zelda’s only recourse is to haunt her dreams!
The book’s depiction of this relationship and guilt is tough to gut through, as is the 1989 film. Both are, as the kids say “…a harsh toke.” Here’s hoping that the 2019 version of Pet Sematary, set to launch on April 5, is able to capture of the terrifying nature of one of the scariest things ever!
