More Castle Rock! More, more!

cr-posterHulu has ordered a second season of the J.J. Abrams/Stephen King extravaganza, Castle Rock. The first season of the show became one of the best launches for a Hulu Original series in terms of eyeballs staring at the screen and is one of an increasing pool of original Hulu content as the service pushes to add more shows in order to compete with streaming giants Netflix and Amazon.

Instead of trying to match the bottomless wallets of streaming juggernauts like Netflix, Hulu’s CEO, Randy Freer, has talked about investing in quality over quantity:

We’re not going to make 800 shows. I mean, next year we’ll probably make 20 or 25. And it’s important to us to make big, impactful shows that delight our customers, that are relevant and entertaining and have cultural conversations going.

Castle Rock features an original story involving an epic struggle between good and evil, well-developed characters as is customary for a Stephen King narrative, and plenty of Stephen King Easter eggs to keep any fan happy.

As we learn more about the second season of Castle Rock, we’ll be sure to keep you up to date!
