AAAWWWWW YEAH! Willful stupidity plus demons = a great bloody time.

The band is back together for season three of the continuing adventures of Ash Williams (Bruce Campbell in great form), the idiot aging man-bro and his cadre of demon hunters.  Joining Ash again is the loyal and sycophantic Pablo (Ray Santiago), the eye-rolling and sassy Dana (Kelly Maxwell), and tough as nails Ruby (Lucy Lawless).  And this year, it’s all in the family!  Ash’s daughter (Sandy?  Mandy?  Brandy!)that he didn’t know he had is going to be featured in season three.  I love how they use Take On Me as the background song for this trailer… so apropos!

If you haven’t seen Ash vs. Evil Dead, you are missing the ultimate horror funhouse/grindhouse show on television.  It is so over the top bloody, so gross, and so raunchy that it makes you wonder what’s left in the tank for this season.  There are some moments, so hysterically gross that it can’t be unseen.  I speak of Season 2’s fight with a morgue cadaver scene.  It is so wrong.  And so right.  You’ll have to see it to believe it.

Can a show be super gross without being super scary?  YES!  This is it!  If you have a strong stomach for yucky, but can’t handle real psychological trauma, you might want to give this a go.  It’s a gateway to gross-out film, much like it’s parental films Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness, two of the great horror comedies of all time.  Recognize that Evil Dead I is a video nasty and is NOT a gateway film, and it is NOT a comedy.

A caveat, though.  There’s a new showrunner, as the previous showrunner Craig DiGregorio left in the final episode of last year, (creative differences, natch) and is getting replaced by Mark Verheiden.  Last year’s last few shows got choppy as the production conflicts bore out.  The trailers look like the show has the same flavor, so I’m optimistic.

All of season 1 and 2 are available for rent now  on Amazon, Youtube, iTunes, Vudu, and Google.  Season 3 is now available on STARZ!

THIS IS A RED BAND VIDEO AND IS NOT SAFE FOR WORK!
