Horror TV News: Castle Rock is coming to Hulu!

Fangoria! Woo!
poltrona-abrams-kingJJ Abrams and Stephen King are taking us on a trip to visit King’s favorite Haunt!

Castle Rock is the eponymous center of Stephen King’s literary and film stories, and now Hulu is bringing this ill-fated Maine town to the small screen.  Watch this trailer for all the wonderful Easter eggs. This is the town of Cujo, Pet Sematary, Carrie, the Shawshank Redemption, The Body (Stand By Me), Gerald’s Game, and The Dead Zone.  King is given writing credits for all ten of the episodes, himself, and Hulu has promised that the stories will intertwine King’s legacy properties together, in something of a shared universe.  I’m excited just to see how the stories flow, one to the other!

In addition to riffing on all this rich backstory, we will be treated to Sissy Spacek, Scott Glenn, Andre Holland (The Knick), Jane Levy (Don’t Breathe) and Terry O’Quinn (Lost) in a fabulous ensemble cast. For those of you who may want to see the connective tissue in Castle Rock… here’s a handy graph courtesy of The Tessie Girl Blog!

And if that’s not tantalizing enough… here’s the trailer!  Castle Rock will come out later this year, but Hulu has yet to set a specific release date.  This show is showcasing Hulu’s budding original programming prowess and may just make getting Hulu a priority for those of you not currently subscribing.  Stay tuned to The Scariest Things for updates on the release date.
