Liz’s Review: M3GAN

Fangoria! Woo!

★★★★ out of ★★★★★

Directed by Gerard Johnstone

Unless you live under a rock, you have heard about the killer robot/doll film M3GAN. For you rock dwellers, Megan stars Allison Williams as Gemma who becomes the guardian of her young niece Cody (Violet McGraw) after her parents are killed in a car accident. Gemma works at a toy company and brings home her pet project M3gan (short for model 3 generative android) to act as a friend to Cady and to alleviate some of the parental pressure that has just been thrust upon her.

Megan (Amie Donald) and Cady immediately form a tight bond and the doll/ robot/ “friend to the end” fills the roll of parent, therapist Sia impersonator and pretty soon bodyguard…prepared to stop at nothing to protect Cody and keep herself from being sent back to the toy factory.

M3GAN is an hour and forty minutes of pure fun with lots of laughs, a few good scares (it is PG-13 after all), a cast of great supporting characters and not a minute of downtime.

You’ll be dancing after you see Megan!

M3GAN is in theaters now! Gather your gang and go experience this for yourself…and then wait (not so) patiently with the rest of us for the sequel that has already been greenlit and scheduled for January 2025.
