IFC Midnight has dropped the trailer for Neill Blomkamp’s newest offering, Demonic and it looks insane!
Blomkamp, known for his sci-fi films District 9, Elysium and Chappie seems to be going all-out horror for this one and we’re there for it! The South African director has been taking time away from doing feature films , instead concentrating on effects-driven genre short films through his Oats Studios as a testing ground for high-concept visual effects. It certainly looks like he’s figured out to employ some terrific visuals, as they are on full display in this trailer.
IFC is not giving us much more than that it is about “a young woman [who] unleashes terrifying demons when supernatural forces at the root of a decades-old rift between mother and daughter are revealed”. IFC is becoming a bit of the gold standard when it comes to independent horror, and this production relationship is a good indicator that we’re going to get a quality product. In IFC Midnight we trust!
The film stars Carly Pope (Popular, Arrow), Nathalie Boltt (Riverdale) and Chris William Martin (Felicity, Supergirl) and will be in theaters August 20th and on demand shortly after.
