Miracle of miracles! All those nights we spent leaping and cavorting by moonlight while chanting fan film finance regulations and sending burnt offerings of hockey masks and machetes to the fickle Gods of Cinema have finally paid off!

Womp Stomp Films is heading back to Camp Crystal Lake!

Surely you remember them from their brilliant Friday the 13th fan film Never Hike Alone (2017). If you missed that one, do yourself a favor and watch it! No, seriously, right now. Here it is. We’ll wait…

And now you want more, right? Right?! Of course you do! And you’re in luck. Director Vincente DiSanti and the rest of the Womp Stomp Films crüe announced today — it being Friday the 13th and all — that they’re planning on creating a series of short films to flesh out and, ultimately, wrap up their take on the Friday the 13th story.

The first of four new short films to be produced will be Never Hike in the Snow. This will be a 20-minute prequel to their original 2017 featurette Never Hike Alone and according to the new IndieGoGo campaign…

Never Hike in the Snow is … set three months prior to the events of Never Hike Alone that follows the strange disappearance of Mark Hill, a Crystal Lake resident who went for a hike in the dead of winter and never came home.

Thom Mathews

This new short film will not only bring back good ol’ Tommy Jarvis [Thom Mathews; Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives (1986)], but will also see the reappearance of a couple other Friday the 13th alums! Sheriff Rick Cologne [Vincent Guastaferro; Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives (1986)] is still keeping the good townsfolk of Crystal Lake safe from harm (more or less) and Douglas Tait will be reprising his role behind the hockey mask as “Ghost” Jason Voorhees. Douglas got very comfortable wearing hockey gear outside of hockey season as the Jason Voorhees stunt double in Freddy vs. Jason (2003).

The remaining three new short films will all be sequels to Never Hike Alone. They are planned to be:

  • Never Hike Alone II: Never Hike Again
20 years after the last sighting of Jason Voorhees, Crystal Lake resident and former victim Tommy Jarvis still lives with the haunting notion that Jason will one day return.
  • Never Hike Alone III: Jason Takes Crystal Lake
Jason returns to Crystal Lake in pursuit of his long time nemesis, Tommy Jarvis, and adventure blogger, Kyle McLeod, who have retreated to Wessex County Medical to recover from being attacked.
  • Never Hike Alone IV: The Final Hike
Armed with the answer to finally destroy Jason, the survivors of the attack on Crystal Lake return to Camp Blood to put an end to the death curse once and for all.
Douglas Tait

Rather than trying to come up with all the dollars at once, Womp Stomp has decided to give each film its own crowdfunding campaign. The funding for Never Hike Alone II will begin after the release of Never Hike in the Snow which the filmmakers have slated for March 2020.

If you’re as excited by this news as we are, dash over to the Never Hike in the Snow IndieGoGo campaign and throw money at them! We did!

If for some crazy reason you’re still on the fence, check out their pitch video below and then go throw money at them. Because the world truly needs more Womp Stomp Friday the 13th awesomeness.
