Noted Horror Film Journalist Joseph Perry is joining TST!

ATMOSfx! Woo!
Now we’re getting professional! No more of this charlatan crap! Queue the dubstep soundtrack. (Bwaaaa bwaaa bwaa BWWAAAAA)

Up to this point, The Scariest Things has been a group of friends who despite holding full-time jobs were also frustrated writers who use our combined love for the horror genre and our desire to share our opinions and write about something we love and turned it into this web magazine. And, we like to think we’ve done a pretty good job to date, keeping you all up to date with the latest happenings in horror, and serving up some stuff you may not have been aware of.

But now we’re legit! Or, perhaps more legit. Friend of the site, Joseph Perry, is taking his talents to The Scariest Things! It’s like getting a big free agent to come join our team. What does it mean for you, the readers? MORE CONTENT! In addition to his writing skills, Joseph is connected to many of the film festivals, and our crew will now be getting earlier access to movies, in advance for your our readers and fans, to clue you in on what you have to look forward to!

Joseph Perry fell in love with horror films as a preschooler when he first saw the Gill-Man swim across the TV screen in “The Creature from The Black Lagoon” and Mothra battle Godzilla in “Godzilla Vs. The Thing.” His education in fright fare continued with TV series such as “The Twilight Zone” and “Outer Limits,” along with legendary northern California horror host Bob Wilkins’ “Creature Features.” His love for silver age and golden age comic books, including horror titles from Gold Key, Dell, and Marvel started around age 5.

He is a contributing writer for Gruesome Magazine, “Phantom of the Movies VideoScope” magazine, “Diabolique” magazine, “Drive-in Asylum” magazine, and the websites That’s Not Current, The Scariest Things, and When It Was Cool. He is a co-host of the “Decades of Horror: The Classic Era” and “Uphill Both Ways” podcasts. Joseph has also written for “Scream” magazine, “Filmfax” magazine, “SQ Horror” magazine, and HorrorNews.net. A former northern Californian and Oregonian, he has been teaching, writing, and living in South Korea since 2008.

Welcome aboard the good ship Scariest Things Joseph! And for those of you curious, his top 25 horror movies are here. Blue Velvet, what? We still love you, Joseph. This is going to be great!
