Horror Movie News: ‘Wrong Turn’ returns with reboot

Fangoria! Woo!

If you can’t think of something new, just redo what you did before!

wt-posterJumping head first into the “Hey! Let’s remake everything!” pool, Constantin Film has announced that it will be rebooting the Wrong Turn franchise.

The original Wrong Turn (2003) — which became the go-to movie about West Virginian cannibals — starred Eliza Dushku, Jeremy Sisto and Emmanuelle Chriqui. After having paid for itself twice over (and then some) at the box office, an additional five movies detailing the consequences of not asking for directions were spawned. The last of those, Wrong Turn 6: Last Resort, was released in 2014.

The original founder of the directionally challenged franchise, Alan McElroy, will be returning to write the script of this “re-interpretation” while the director’s chair will be filled by Mike P. Nelson. Nelson is fresh off his debut solo-directoral gig, The Domestics, starring Kate Bosworth.

wt-bloodProducer Robert Kulzer of Constantin Film had this to say about the remake:

Alan’s re -interpretation of his own work and Mike’s vision are a frightening reflection of our world today: one person’s American dream is another’s worst nightmare.

What say you, Scariest Reader? Do remakes, reboots, and re-interpretations get you excited to dash to your local cinemaplex? Or is it just déja vu all over again and you’ll be skipping the repeat?
