Horror TV News: Eli Roth’s History of Horror coming to AMC this October!

ATMOSfx! Woo!
hoh-title

Taking a look at how our favorite genre has evolved through the years with the help of stars, storytellers, and visionaries.

Eli Roth [Cabin Fever (2002), Hostel (2005), etc.] has done just about everything. Writing, directing, producing… puppeteering? And now he’s turning his attention to something new: historian. Roth will be acting as executive producer and host for the new, six episode addition to the year-round AMC Visionaries series.

This new horror-themed segment is entitled AMC Visionaries: Eli Roth’s History of Horror and will include guests such as Stephen King, Quentin Tarantino, Jordan Peele, Jason Blum, Robert Englund, Linda Blair, Tippi Hedren, Rob Zombie, Haley Joel Osment, Jack Black, Edgar Wright, Diablo Cody, Norman Reedus, John Landis, Jamie Lee Curtis, and many more. Each one hour episode will dive deep into what came before as well as what’s driving the horror genre into the future.

Roth had this to say about his new series:

I’m thrilled to be part of this incredible series. For years, I’ve wanted to create a definitive ‘History of Horror,’ a living record of the genre with interviews from all the greats, old and new. Sadly, we lose more of these masters every year and with them go their stories and experiences. This show will serve as a record for future generations — fans and filmmakers alike — to enjoy. I could not be prouder to create this with AMC.

At the announcement for the debut date of Roth’s new show, Charlie Collier, president of AMC, SundanceTV, and AMC Studios had this to say in a statement:

AMC Visionaries is all about going deep into areas of fan passion. In addition to Robert Kirkman on comics or James Cameron on sci-fi, that AMC is going to be the home of Eli Roth’s deep dive into horror makes perfect sense given our decades-long commitment to the genre. He’ll shed light on the stories and storytellers that keep us up at night…

Here at The Scariest Things, this sounds like a can’t miss little mini-series and we’re all very excited to see where Eli Roth goes with it.

AMC Visionaries: Eli Roth’s History of Horror will debut this year on October 14.
