Sharon L Yablon’s Top 25 Horror Films

Scary DVDs! Woo!
Black Christmas Poster

Shit, this was difficult, but fun! I wish we could have a film festival and all meet 🙂

I’ve been watching horror movies since I was a little kid. I grew up with Boris Karloff, Vincent Price, and Karen Black films, moved onto the supernatural 70s, the slasher 80s, and am still going strong! The movies I have chosen are movies I can watch again and again, and some go back to my childhood. Some are more creepier than scary, and others I just love even though they may not be the scariest films (Waxwork, what’s not to love??). It was hard to narrow this list down to 25, and there are many very scary ones I wasn’t able to include (The Witch, Wolf Creek, Sinister, Dead Silence, etc.), but I decided to go with movies that have stayed with me time and time again. If it was top 30 my list would stretch to Phantasm, Scream, Drag Me To Hell and Friday the 13th. If I decided to make this list “movies that scared the shit out of me” Wolf Creek would definitely be there. Ah well…
