An eight episode run brought to Netflix by the team behind Syfy’s Z Nation.
Karl Schaefer and John Hyams, the team behind Syfy’s Z Nation created this new series and will both act as co-showrunners. The title of this new Netflix series, Black Summer, comes straight out of Z Nation lore. Assuming they’re talking about the same thing here, Black Summer refers to an extreme drought that struck the country earlier in the zombie apocalypse. Many people died due to the scarcity of resources adding to the already bulging zombie population. Some of those who managed to survive did so using unsavory means. Hunting other people for food, for example.
In Netflix’s Black Summer, Jaime King [Sin City (2005), My Bloody Valentine (2009)] plays a mother searching for her daughter while trying to survive during the most brutal summer of a zombie apocalypse.
