Heavy metal and horror go together like peanut butter and dark chocolate. It’s a match made in hell, and director Chris McInroy knows it. Ever since Robert Johnson sold his soul at the Crossroads, there have been pacts with would-be guitar gods. I got a kick out of recognizing the two actors who are in McInroy’s We Summoned A Demon, another short film about losers trying to use dark magic to gain the forbidden fruit that is… coolness. And, like that fun tale (which was just shown at the Overlook Film Festival) Death Metal is very silly, and over the top gory. It’s also a tidy little film coming in at 4:49 minutes.
